Do penguins have teeth?

CC asks:

I’ve never seen a penguin smile – is this because they don’t have teeth or are the only ones I’ve seen generally unhappy?

Our experts answered

Penguins are birds, and no bird has teeth. They have barbs on the roof of their mouth and also on the tongue. The barbs are similar to teeth but are not used for chewing. (the Penguin from Batman does have teeth though!) Gabe 0 Votes No because birds don’t have teeth. Obvious really. Lee Batman expert 0 Votes Only those who brush regularly. As we all know, if you don’t brush your teeth they’ll fall out (especially if you eat penguin biscuits). Sally Soup expert 0 Votes
